#NEWPORT BEACH RI HOW TO#
Middletown.Dreaming of a New England getaway to a place that knows how to embrace festivity? Meet Newport, Rhode Island. Heard nothing about a rooftop pool opportunity? For the $$$ amount spent, would recommend a hotel in Newport proper vs. No idea what ‘the Suites’ part of hotel looked like. Two beaches within steps of hotel, and reasonable restaurants. The staff in the adjacent Bar were the best! Room cleaned daily, if desired. Staff at front desk was always friendly and helpful. Had a jetted jacuzzi in the room ! (though did not use it). Bathroom configuration was tight, and while it was clean, it needed a deep dive cleaning. Photos make it appear to be ‘away and out near the ocean’, so was surprised to find it flush on the busiest thoroughfare - and incessant traffic noise. Large corner room (a plus) with lots of angles, and totally wonky floors. Our room was in the ‘historic’ building of the hotel. We paid an extraordinarily high nightly rate because it was Labor Day weekend and lots of hotels booked up. Everyone was friendly, and service was fast! Whenever we called the front desk for something, it was delivered by a gracious staff member within 3 minutes! This is remarkable, and we have not experienced this level of service, even in places costing more than $600 per night. But what set this hotel apart was the INCREDIBLE staff. All of this made our stay a wonderful experience. On the forth floor of the new wing there is a hot tub, and a sitting area with a fire pit. There is a pool on the third floor of the new wing. There was a washer/drier stack in a small closet. The kitchen had a full-size refrigerator, microwave, small cook-top, a toaster oven, sink, and dishwasher. Both bedrooms and the living room had flat-panel TVs, and large sliding glass doors (no balconies.) The living room / kitchen had a sofa (might have been a sleeper, didn't check) and a small round table with two chairs. Only a single sink, but the toilets were adult-height! If you need a child-height toilet, let them know when booking. The bathrooms were covered in Carrara Marble with a whirlpool tub and a large shower. The room had two large bedrooms with king beds and closets. The check-in process was very fast and completely painless. I knew nothing about this hotel when I booked, but traveling with three adults, we wanted two-bedrooms, and the suite was a plus. We stayed here for five nights in a two-bedroom suite. The hotel is located very nicely across from a lovely beach and is a healthy walk from Newport's famous Cliff Walk. Even with that refund, the "historic section" of the hotel is overpriced and shabby. The hotel manager did give us a partial refund when we complained at checkout. Morning coffee begins at 8:00 and does not include decaf. The swimming pool in the newer building across the street is undersized, and the rooftop hot tub and lounge area is limited in access to only residents of the suites. The heat lamps in the ceiling lacked bulbs. The bathroom was tiny, with the toilet accessible only by turning sideways to slip by the vanity. A previous occupant's bobbie pin beside the mopboard indicated that little care was expended on cleaning. The armless chairs in the room were not comfy, so reading had to be either in bed or in the lobby. There was no comfortable way to enjoy the view. Although we had requested a high floor, we were stuck in a second-floor room. Apparently the promotional picture was of a fourth-floor room.
#NEWPORT BEACH RI WINDOWS#
Unlike the picture in the advertisement with a wide window overlooking the beach, our king beachfront room had two smaller windows overlooking the beach. We thought that a few days in a beachfront room in what advertised itself as a luxury hotel would be a nice break.
